Stolen Artifacts Returned in Chicago

Approximately 120 stolen historicartifacts valued at roughly $5 million were returned to the Polish Museum ofAmerica in Chicago earlier this week. The artifacts, which were believed tohave been removed from the museum sometime in the 1970s or 1980s, wererecovered by the FBI in 2011 from a Chicago residence.
The artifacts consist of many items ofcorrespondence dating back as far as 1646, to include letters sent to and fromPolish kings, American presidents, a French emperor, and prominentRevolutionary War figures. The collection also includes rare prints andsketches, Polish military medals and memorabilia, as well as World War IIartifacts.
