Madison Man Sentenced to Prison for Firearm Offense

A Madison, Illinois, man was sentencedto a prison term in federal district court for possession of a firearm by aconvicted felon on May 31, 2012, the United States Attorney for the SouthernDistrict of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, announced today.
Jarrell Rogers, 25, of Madison,Illinois, was sentenced in federal district court in East St. Louis to 33months in prison, 3 years supervised release, a $100 special assessment, and afine of $300, following his plea of guilty, on February 28, 2012, to anIndictment charging him with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Thecharges relate to an incident that occurred on August 20, 2011, in Brooklyn,Illinois, when law enforcement officers made a traffic stop of the car in whichRogers was riding and a search resulted in the seizure of a 9 mm. semiautomaticpistol, loaded with eight rounds of ammunition. Rogers was previously convictedof Unlawful Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance inMadison County, Illinois, on or about April 4, 2011.
The case was investigated by members ofthe Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The case wasprosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen B. Clark.
